Which is better for the radiator: Water, green water or red water?

By, 2018-10-15

The cooling system in the car is one of the most important systems that maintain an efficient operation for the engine. The cooling system contains many parts that all cooperate in operating the system to the fullest. Radiator is one of the devices that have a significant role in reducing the engine temperature, maintaining the engine's lifespan and reducing its risk of damage. The radiator contains a fluid which is responsible for cooling the engine and other parts of the vehicle. There are many kinds of cooling water including water, green water and red water. But, which is better for the car radiator, and what is the difference between them.

First: Water

Some people think that it is better to use normal water as a coolant inside the radiator, however it is one of the most common mistakes of motorists that leads to many problems in the car.

Regular water contains a lot of salts that may accumulate on the surfaces and thus cause corrosion of the radiator. Using water for the radiator may cause rust due to its interaction with iron and copper. Water is affected by heat quickly and will not be able to cool the car parts when their temperature is high.

Second: Green Water

Green water does not contain salts or impurities when compared to normal water, so it can be used as a cooling fluid to maintain proper heat for the engine and other parts of the car.

As for its components, the green water contains many components that help avoiding interaction between the green water and the internal body of the Riditer. It also contains components and other materials that help raising the boiling point of green water to about 120 degrees.

The lifespan of green water is about two years then you have to change it. Despite all these advantages, it has one disadvantage which is containing silicates that damage some parts of the cooling system.

Third: Red Water

Red water is very similar to the green water, it does not contain salts or impurities, so it can be used as a cooling fluid and maintain proper heat for the engine and other parts of the car.

In addition, red water does not contain silicates found in green water that damage and affect the cooling system.

Red water is used in large motors and has a long lifespan of up to 5 years, while green water is two years old.

Some may think mixing green water with red water is good for the car, but that's not true at all. Always be sure to supply one type of water in the car because of the different components of each one.
