Qatar: MEC fines shops for selling expired tyres

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce carried out a surprise inspection campaign on tyre repair and sale shops located on Salwa Road and they found that there are some shops sell expired tyres. This campaign resulted in the imposition of fines for three violations including selling expired tyres which is considered a violation of article 6 of law No 8 of 2008 protection and anti-commercial fraud.

 

Depending on the article 6, the sale, display and promotion of soiled and expired products are prohibited if these products fail to meet the standers.

Shops that have been fined have to abide by the punishments which include: administrative closure or a financial penalties from QR 3000 to QR 1 million.

 

Qatar MEC is paying a lot of efforts including these inspection campaigns to monitor markets and commercial activities. The MEC expressed its readiness  to face any violations of laws and regulations to protect the customers.
