“Ashghal” opens the southern part of Doha Expressway and Hamad Port Road

The Public Works Authority in Qatar (Ashghal) announced the opening of the Southern part of Doha Expressway and the Port of Hamad Road project.

 

The opening took place on Tuesday 15th August in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Jassem bin Saif Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport and Communications and HE Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi, Minister of Municipality and Environment, the Chairman of the Public Works Authority, and a number of senior officials of the Ministry of Municipalities and Environment, the Ministry of Communications and Communications, the Public Works Authority and the General Directorate of Traffic at the Ministry of Interior.

 

These projects are part of the recently opened highway projects, which are important parts of the highway network to serve all parts of the country, including projects serving the southern regions of Al Wakra, Wkeir, and Mashaf.

 

“Ashghal” explained that the southern part of the Doha Highway and the port of Hamad Port, which were opened entirety in both directions, will serve the densely populated southern regions, in addition to the traffic to and from Hamad International Airport, Hamad Port, Industrial Zone and others.

The opening of the Southern Doha Expressway project included four-lane roads with a total length of 11 km, as well as parts of the five intersections of the project to enable road users to enter and exit the new road and the surrounding areas.

 

“Ashghal” also confirmed that the southern part of the Doha Expressway would reduce the pressure on the main Wakra road and thus reduce congestion in that area.

 

"Ashghal" also pointed out that all the lanes of the Port of Hamad Road have been opened in both directions, which connects the Hamad Port with the Seventh Ring Road.
